This was a NEC Option A contract undertaken for Pembrokeshire CC. JBHL were appointed Principal Contractor.
The work entailed construction of a sea defence wall comprising of 8,000 tonnes of blockstone. Work was undertaken outside the tourist season to help minimise disruption. There were occasions on this project where adverse weather conditions impacted on our programme. This was mitigated by bringing in additional plant and weekend and shift working. This created a further problem in sourcing quarry stone which we addressed by a backup sourcing arrangement.
Works were planned carefully around tidal patterns, we had to ensure that we vacated site in a timely manner at the end of every shift and within tidal regimes. Our flexible working arrangements helped ensure that we were able to deliver the project to agreed programme.
